Buying a Warranty

I'm buying a pre owned Sea Ray Sundancer. It's a private sale. I know I need an after market warranty, not sure how that works. I bought my first boat from a dealer. I'm ready to step up, but buying used works best for me financially.

Any recommendations for after market warrantys? What should I ask about?

What happens if you pay for a warranty on stuff that is likely to last through the period, or if you have it hauled to the mechanic only to find that those parts arent covered?

After market warranty companies make a profit. You might be better off just paying for repairs out of pocket, unless you have really good coverage and want to safeguard against a really expensive repair. Less

Thanks, Crooser. I did some research and have bought a warranty, but it really is an eye opener to look at everything.
